Teaching methodologies/activity outline
Once the fruit is sliced according to its shape and color, the following steps should be followed:
- Step 1: Choose a base→ they will be able to choose the one they prefer (milk or orange juice).
- Step 2: Add the fruit previously sliced.
- Step 3: Blend the ingredients until having a combined liquid.
- Step 4: Pour the result into a glass.
- Step 5: Add nutritional properties→ To finish the smoothie, you can add some of the ingredients known as “superfood” with high nutritional properties like flax seeds or pure cocoa powder. You can also add sliced fruit.
If you have not done the previous activities of slicing the fruit in specific shape, you can follow the following steps:
- Step 1: Choose a fruit→ There will be a bowl with different fruits, in which the children will be able to choose the one or ones they like the most. For example: banana, strawberry, raspberry, apple, kiwi, watermelon, tanjarine and melon.
- Step 2: Choose a base→ they will be able to choose the one they prefer (milk or orange juice).
- Step 3: Slice the fruit→ the students will have the utensils to peel and cut the fruit in a specific way.
- Step 4: Add the fruit to the base.
- Step 5: Blend the ingredients until having a combined liquid.
- Step 6: Pour the smoothie in a glass.
- Step 7: Add nutritional properties→ To finish the smoothie, you can add some of the ingredients known as “superfood” with high nutritional properties like flax seeds or pure cocoa powder. You can also add sliced fruit.
